Some People Are Not Meant to Ride

by | Dear Younger Me

Dear Younger Me,

As you journey towards your destiny, you may find that not everyone is meant to accompany you on this path. Some people are akin to temporary passengers, only present for a short while before disembarking at their designated stop. Recognizing this truth can be liberating, as it allows you to embrace the ebb and flow of relationships without holding onto those who are not meant to ride alongside you for the long haul.

When I was younger, my father cautioned me against overcrowding the car with friends. Not everyone had the same intentions. While I might have intended to head to the pizza place after the game, someone else wanted to make an unwise detour elsewhere. In life, it’s important to stick to your path and not be swayed by others who may not share your destination. Stay focused on your goal and don’t allow distractions from others.

Remember that it’s okay to outgrow certain relationships or let go of toxic connections. Your inner peace and growth should always come first. Trust your instincts and intuition when it comes to choosing the right companions for your journey in life.

Your destiny is uniquely yours—a culmination of experiences, choices, and aspirations that shape your individual journey. It’s essential to acknowledge that not everyone will understand or align with your vision, and that’s okay. Embrace the realization that some people are simply not equipped to venture where your destiny leads, and have faith in the path laid out before you. Trusting in your own capabilities and intuition will ultimately guide you towards fulfillment and success, even if it means leaving behind those who cannot walk alongside you in this chapter of your life.

God has crafted you in a special way, with a unique purpose tailor-made just for you. Embrace the journey ahead by being discerning about who you allow to accompany you along the way; not everyone is meant to travel the same path as you.
